Randy Reese coached more than 60 Olympic swimmers who won 18 gold, eight silver, and nine bronze medals. When he was head coach at the University of Florida, his teams won NCAA Men’s and Women’s Championships. His USA swim teams placed in the top five more than 50 times and won 14 National Team titles. Reese also coached for the Junior Team and Goodwill Games. Record holders from World, American, National Age Group, and State have benefited from his coaching skills.
In Clearwater, Reese wants to reach out to all swimmers because he has seen what swimming can do. “When you learn to take care of your body, it pays off,” Reese says. “Swimmers learn things to make them successful throughout life.” He smiles when he adds, “Getting to practice fifteen minutes early really means you’re five minutes late.” He encourages families to get involved in fitness programs because swimming is a family sport with parental participation key to the success of the [club] program and its swimmers.
